Devotion: We Be A Kingdom Worker

Once, we were asked why we chose to do what we do.  We wanted to share, just in case someone else had the same question.

“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and (by) two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come (was about to go).  Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.  Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.  Carry neither purse, nor scrip (bag), nor shoes (sandals): and salute (greet) no man by the way (along the road).  And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.  And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.  And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire (wages).  Go not from house to house.  And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:  and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto (near to) you.  But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on (clings to) us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto (has come near) you” (Luke 10:1-11).

In this passage, we see that the Lord chose seventy other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and villages he planned to visit later.  More importantly were the instructions that he gave to seventy other disciples.  We believe these instructions were given to us as well.

He told them that the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest that he will send out more laborers into his harvest.  Basically, Jesus was telling them that the harvest, those that are in the world was plentiful, but the kingdom worker were few, therefore he was pleading with them to pray to the Lord of the harvest, which would be God, to send out more workers into his harvest to help.  Jesus told them, as they were going their way, “Remember, I send you as lambs into the midst of the wolves.”  He went on to tell them not to take with them any money, not to take a beggar’s bag, and not to even take a change of shoes.  He even told them not to waste time along the way greeting anyone along the road.

He went on to say that whatsoever house they entered, give it a blessing, and say “Peace be to this house.”  If the house be worthy of a blessing, then the blessing would stand, if it be not worthy of the blessing, then the blessing would return back to them.  He told them that in that same house, they were to stay, and drink of those things that were given them from the table, because as a laborer, they were deserving of their pay, but not to go from one house to another house

He told them that whatever town they went to that received them, to eat those things that were given to them to eat.  And while they were there, they were to make well all of them that were sick, curing them of their illnesses and tell them, “The Kingdom of God is very near to you.”  But whatever town you go to that does not receive you, go into the streets and say, “The very dust of your city, which is about and clings to us, we wipe off as a witness against you, but be certain of this, that the kingdom of God was close to you.”

“For we are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building” (I Corinthians 3:9).

The main thing we want you to see is we be workers together with God and by being a worker together with him, we have an obligation to fulfill his needs.  And he needs workers to go into his harvest fields, to go into the world and be the laborers of his harvest.  We, as a worker for the kingdom, have elected to be those laborers together with God that go into his harvest.  And as workers together with him, we labor with him to work in his harvest.

And since becoming a worker together with God, we have discovered that there is only one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all (Ephesians 4:4-7).  We know there is no separation in the body.  And the glory which God gave to Jesus Christ, he has given to us, that we may be one as the Father and the Son are one (John 10:30).  Christ is in us, and God is in Christ; and we are one with Christ who is one with God so that we may be made completely one (John 17:22-23).

Since we have been made one with Christ, our spiritual eyes have been opened (Ephesians 1:18), and we have learned to examine the Word of God in a different light (II Timothy 2:15).  This is not to say that we have all the answers, but we do have a different perspective on reading the Bible (Proverbs 4:20-22).

In any discussion that involves the Bible, we refuse to take someone’s word without scriptural evidence.  The scriptures tell us that, “in the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established” (I Corinthians 13:1; Matthew 18:16; Deuteronomy 19:5) and this is our preference for establishing God’s word.  Scriptural evidence and verification by the Word (chapter and verse) is required before we consider or accept any information that is not a part of our fundamental belief system.<

Everything is important as it pertains to the Bible, no matter how trivial it may appear to be.  We understand how one misspoken or misprinted word can alter the truth, turning what once was truth into a lie, a counterfeit (Romans 1:25).  We realize, a counterfeit, which is a copy made from the original, exist for the sole purpose of defrauding or deceiving someone.

We seek only to walk in truth and no longer in loyalty to Churchianity, denominationalism, and traditionalism.  We have become tired of the deceptions.  We desire to share with all that we have encountered, with the hope that one may hear.  We want to search so one may see outside of the boxes that contain the politically correct feel-good ideologies.

We want to labor to eliminate contrary beliefs, misguided values, unethical practices, or overstated theologies (Ecclesiastes 7:25).  We analyze everything, with the intent to uncover all the Bible has to offer (Ecclesiastes 1:13).  We want to share, not to question, in order to necessitate thought and verification by those who receive it (Ezekiel 44:23).

We want to share from the Word those things that have been placed in our heart (Psalms 77:12).  We require no approval (Ephesians 1:6), other than that of the Father (Ephesians 3:12) for we be a worker together with him (II Corinthians 6:1).  We may not be for all, but we are for those who have an ear to hear (I Timothy 4:13-16).

We be a new creature, a new creation, a worker together with God, helping to establish his covenant.  Maintaining integrity is now more important than ever before.  The scripture says, we be the light of the world, a glorious city set on the top of a hill gleaming for the world to see (Matthew 5:14), a representative of the kingdom of God.  What is your story?  Remember, the world is watching.

Enjoy all of your blessings and remember to be a blessing to others - KW
